No Longer Burning Myself to Keep Others Warm

For so long, I tried to make everyone comfortable. To keep everyone happy. To carry the weight of others, no matter what it cost me.
But here’s the truth: constantly pouring into others while neglecting yourself only leaves you empty. And emptiness doesn’t serve anyone—not them, and certainly not you.
I’ve learned that love and kindness don’t require self-destruction. Boundaries are not selfish—they are sacred. Protecting your peace is protecting your ability to show up authentically.
Now I live by this: I will not burn myself to keep others warm.
Instead, I choose balance. I choose to give from a place of fullness, not depletion. I choose to honor my needs so that when I do give, it’s genuine, joyful, and sustainable.
If you’ve ever felt guilty for saying “no,” remember this: your worth isn’t measured by how much you sacrifice. It’s measured by how true you remain to yourself.
Protect your flame. Nurture it. Let it shine—not burn out.
“You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” — Unknown
